Tournament Rules

General playing Rules
Games will be of two 9 minute halves. Substitution in and out will be allowed at any time during the game provided the referee is notified.

The ball may not pass above shoulder height except from a save by the keeper.

No heading at any height allowed.


Player may score from anywhere inside the opponent’s half but not from their own half with the exception of direct free kicks.

The hall is marked for various games. The goalkeeper’s area is marked by a blue semi-circle and he may not handle the ball outside this area. The keeper may not handle a pass from a team-mate behind the goal line.

Deliberate use of the hand on the boundaries to gain an advantage is not allowed.

An infringement of the rules except high ball will be penalised by a direct free-kick.

A high ball will result in an indirect free kick. Anytime a ball goes above shoulder height a free will be awarded against the team to last touch the ball.

For all frees, defenders must stand 6 feet from the ball.

Rough or dangerous play will be harshly penalised.

A player who is sent off after receiving two yellows will miss the next match. A player who receives a straight red card will miss 2 matches.

A sin bin may be issued by the referee in the event of a foul deemed less serious than a red card.

A sin bin will result in the player leaving the field of play for 2 minutes and his/her team may not replace this player during the 2 minutes.

Referees decisions are final.

All teams should have team jerseys.

All game times are to be strictly enforced. If teams fail to start their match on time, the match must still conclude by the time set for the next match.

A walkover will be awarded if the game does not start within five minutes of the appointed time. In the event of a walkover, the winning team will be awarded a 2-0 victory.

All results involving that team will revert to a 2-0 victory for the other team.

Normal criteria apply for deciding group placing’s: points, goal difference, head to head goals scored.

In Mary Immaculate, all games will be 6 aside with 3 subs allowed. In the other two gyms, all games will be five aside with 3 subs allowed.

Squads may be ten in size (to allow for injury) but only 3 subs will be
permitted for any game.

10 trophies and/or medals will be presented to the winning team in the final.

In the event of a draw in a knock out game, an additional 3 minutes Golden Goal will be played.

If no goal has been scored after 3 minutes of Golden Goal time, then penalties will take place. 3 penalties per team with one step only allowed followed by Sudden Death if necessary.

A win is worth 3 points and a draw one point in all league stage games.

All participants must be qualified Primary School Teachers or studying to become a Primary School Teacher.

Any team who fields an illegible player will be disqualified from the competition that year and the following year

Anyone seen to be directing aggression or obscenities towards anyone present at a LIST venue may be penalised as follows:

Removal from the building and a ban from attending/playing in any of the remaining games.

In the event it is a squad member involved they risk having their team disqualified from the tournament
